Old Town Square
Old Town Square is the central square of historic Prague and one of the city's most important places. Since the Middle Ages it has served as a marketplace, a gathering point and a stage for political events.
The square is lined with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque townhouses, and it is dominated by the Old Town Hall with its astronomical clock, the Orloj. Here too stands the Church of Our Lady before Týn, whose distinctive towers form one of the most recognisable views of Prague.
Today the Old Town Square is one of Prague's foremost sights and the place where discovering the city most often begins. It is a space where Czech history, architecture and city life come together as one coherent whole.
Satori Cities
On a Satori Cities walk, Old Town Square is not treated as a box to tick. It is a place to notice the city's open-air memory, to slow the body down, and to receive the historical context only after perception has done its work.
