Prague Astronomical Clock

The Prague Astronomical Clock (Orloj) is a medieval astronomical clock from 1410, mounted on the tower of the Old Town Hall in Prague. It is one of the oldest working clocks of its kind in the world and, at the same time, one of the city's most important tourist attractions.

The clock not only tells the time but also shows the position of the Sun and the Moon and the signs of the zodiac. Its mechanism consists of several dials that reflect the medieval view of the cosmos.

Every hour a distinctive show of moving figures takes place, including the apostles, drawing tourists to the Old Town Square. The Orloj is a unique blend of science, art and medieval symbolism, and its mechanism ranks among the most precious technical monuments in Europe.

Satori Cities

On a Satori Cities walk, Prague Astronomical Clock is not treated as a box to tick. It is a place to notice medieval time and patient waiting, to slow the body down, and to receive the historical context only after perception has done its work.
