St. Nicholas Church Old Town
The Church of St. Nicholas on the Old Town Square is a Baroque church standing right on Prague's Old Town Square. It was built in the 18th century on the site of an older Gothic church.
The building stands out for its bright, elegant facade and richly decorated interior, typical of Baroque architecture. Unlike the Gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn, it forms a clear stylistic contrast on the square.
Over the years the church has served various roles — a Catholic church, an Orthodox church and a concert venue. Today it is also known for its musical events and remains an important part of the Old Town Square.
Satori Cities
On a Satori Cities walk, St. Nicholas Church Old Town is not treated as a box to tick. It is a place to notice vaulted air, quiet thresholds, and patient stone, to slow the body down, and to receive the historical context only after perception has done its work.
