Republic Square
Náměstí Republiky is one of the key points in central Prague, at the meeting of the Old and New Towns. For centuries it has served an important role as a transport and commercial hub.
Here stand the Powder Tower — a remnant of the former city walls — and the Obecní dům (Municipal House), a grand Art Nouveau building. It is also the start of Celetná Street, part of the historic Royal Route leading to Prague Castle.
Today the square is an important transport and orientation hub, often one of the first places tourists visit in Prague.
Satori Cities
On a Satori Cities walk, Republic Square is not treated as a box to tick. It is a place to notice open space, facades, and the rhythm of arriving footsteps, to slow the body down, and to receive the historical context only after perception has done its work.
