Malá Strana
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and most picturesque districts of Prague, lying between the Vltava and the hill of Prague Castle. It grew up in the Middle Ages as a merchant settlement, and its present character took shape mainly in the Baroque era.
The district is famous for its narrow streets, palaces and numerous churches, including the Church of St. Nicholas. Its focal point is Malostranské náměstí — a historic square surrounded by heritage buildings.
Malá Strana served as an aristocratic quarter, as can be seen in its many palaces and residences, a great number of which today house embassies.
Thanks to its location, it forms a natural link between Charles Bridge and Prague Castle and is one of the most visited areas of Prague.
