Na Zabradli Theatre

The Theatre on the Balustrade is one of the most significant theatres in Prague, near the Vltava, not far from Charles Bridge. It was founded in 1958 and quickly became an important centre of the modern theatre scene.

The theatre is especially associated with Václav Havel — playwright, dissident and later president of the Czech Republic — whose plays were staged here. It was here that the theatre of the absurd developed in a Central European context.

Today the Theatre on the Balustrade continues its tradition of ambitious, experimental productions and remains one of the key places of contemporary culture in Prague.

Satori Cities

On a Satori Cities walk, Na Zabradli Theatre is not treated as a box to tick. It is a place to notice backstage silence, gestures, and suspended attention, to slow the body down, and to receive the historical context only after perception has done its work.
