From a hill, it is a city of red roofs. From a tower, it becomes a tight mechanism of streets. From the riverbank, it resembles a stage set over which the Castle looms. This ranking doesn’t order places solely by height. What matters is the view, the walk up, the time of day, and whether you’re left with something more than just a photo after descending. 1. Letná – Seven Bridges in One Frame From the terrace near the Metronome, the Vltava unfolds into a series of arches. This is the most legible panorama of Prague’s bridges and one of the best free views. In the morning, the light is softer; in the evening, locals gather here. 2. The Castle Garden and the Descent from Hradčany The view appears in stages between walls and gardens. It isn’t a single terrace, but a sequence of panoramas as you descend toward the Lesser Town. It’s best combined with a tour of Royal Prague. 3. Petřín Lookout Tower This steel tower, built in 1891, offers a wide view of the entire city. Admission is paid, and on clear days, you can see far beyond the center. Yet the greatest impression comes from the layout of Prague at the foot of the hill. 4. Old Town Hall Tower This is a view from the very heart of the city. The square looks like a theatrical stage here, and the spires of the Týn Church are almost within reach. Admission is paid; during peak hours, expect a queue. 5. The Old Town Bridge Tower From above, Charles Bridge ceases to be a crowd and regains its proportions. You can see Hradčany, the Lesser Town, and the river. The best time is late afternoon, when the sun illuminates the left bank. 6. Vyšehrad The view is lower than from Petřín, but more rugged. The river curves beneath the walls, trains cross the bridge, and the center lies to the north. It’s a panorama of a city that still works and moves. 7. Riegrovy Sady A classic sunset view with the Castle in sight. In summer, the lawn fills with people, so for quiet, come in the morning or off season. 8. Vítkov The monumental hill above Žižkov shows Prague from a side less known to tourists. You can see railway corridors, modern districts, and the historic center in the distance. 9. Žižkov Television Tower The highest point on this list and the most contemporary perspective. The view is paid, behind glass, and less romantic, but it allows you to see the full scale of the city. 10. Strahov The terrace near the monastery opens a panorama over the gardens. It’s a good spot in the morning, before the crowds head toward the Castle. 11. Vrtba Garden The Baroque garden climbs in terraces above the Lesser Town. The view is intimate: roofs, domes, and close up details. The garden operates seasonally and requires a ticket. 12. Hanavský Pavilion The pavilion on the edge of Letná offers a different angle on the bridges than the Metronome. It’s a good spot for photographers, especially in low light. 13. Henryk Tower Jindřišská věž stands near Wenceslas Square. The panorama shows the New Town, which from other viewpoints is hidden behind the spires of the Old Town. 14. Sacré Coeur Park A small park above Smíchov is less known but offers a calm view of the western part of Prague. It’s a suggestion for those who don’t need every landmark in their frame. 15. The Embankment near the Rudolfinum Not every viewpoint needs to be high. From the river level, the Castle and the Lesser Town form the most classic panorama.
